these could range from firsthand accounts related to uranium mining/enrichment, scientific studies/data into impacts of warhead transportation/decommissioning, or even exploration of the mental/societal impacts related to nuclear threats

I’m looking forward to continuing to engage both with the development of work in the WMD field applying futures and foresight methods, but also looking more broadly at the biological and chemical weapons regimes and their politics (curious to see how it looks alongside nuclear).

Having dived into the world of WMD beyond nuclear, I also got to assist on BASIC’s collaborative work with SPRU applying futures and foresight at the intersection of AI and chemical and biological weapons.

Outside of BASIC, I gave a talk at the LSE Library on intersectional approaches to peace and security - and how disarmament fits in (loved this!), and also presented my research on ‘Disruptive Diplomacy’ at the BISA GNO Annual Conference.

Alongside this, the EVN has grown in numbers, run Masterclasses, speed networking, mentoring sessions, and just launched two new policy cycles, on Nuclear Harm Reduction, and Futures and Foresight respectively.

50 EVN members researched and wrote policy papers making innovative recommendations for strengthening the humanitarian impacts agenda within the NPT regime. This is a published anthology available to read BASIC’s website! We ended this work with a side event at the 2024 NPT PrepCom in collab w IPPNW
