I wish this story got the attention it deserved 8 months ago. But here we are, still and again. It's not too late to do something about it if you're local. Show up in person and/or write your letters.

PLEASE. SPREAD. THE. WORD.

If this passes, York deserves to be sued, too.

Here's the York County draft. It allows for any books on gender to be removed from and excluded from the juvenile collections: 0a68e4b7-311f-46c6-8c90-48727c0b8855.filesusr.com/ugd/6bde57_1...

TOMORROW, York County's board is discussing the new collection policy, which is almost stolen word for word from Greenville's. Greenville's library is currently being sued by the state ACLU for how discriminatory the policy is: bookriot.com/greenville-s...

Call to action, South Carolinians.

Don't let 'em ever say "You saw what was happening, and didn't do anything."

My point is that the problem with good practical governance is the same problem with vaccines. When it works too well, people stop believing they need it.

DOGE dissolving a massive amount of the federal workforce is going to open up chasms in service and competence ppl would have never anticipated.

When they called up their reps, the office standard reply was "We can't afford it. We told you what the new taxes were needed for, and you chose not to have them. "

"If you'd like the streetlight closest to your house lit up, though, we can do that for a few thousand dollars, plus a daily fee."

Stories like this remind me of a true story from small-town America, where a municipality's residents voted down local tax increases over and over, for years.

Then, one day, the streetlights turned off. For good. And every was just so angry and confused.

So many creep-ass Twitter accounts post paintings and photos from like, the 50s and 60s, with captions like “bring back cotillions, bring back balls, bring back house parties“

My guy

Those still happen

It’s just that no one‘s fucking inviting you

You ever wonder why that is

this joke plagues transphobes because it’s an incredibly cutting take on what the modern transphobic panic is, a hysterical panic based off of a lie that transness is fake and that there is an intentional effort from the right to prop up this wedge to destroy all LGBTQ rights
What’s that saying, hit dog holler

Childhood is primetime for developing creativity. It's usually when a person takes their first, wobbly steps into getting their imaginations down on paper.

Redirecting that into typing prompts feels genuinely defiling.

Yep. This is literally how it goes with popular media. Books, film, television, everything.

The majority of what you put out will break even, be a mild success, or lose money. But you'll have a scant handful of superstars that basically pay for everything else.
I'm starting to really believe that the only way to get a runaway success is for companies to fund like 20 new projects, 19 of them will either fail or make no impression, and then the 20th will resonate with audiences and create tons of merch opportunities like Bluey or KPop Demon Hunters
