Twitter expat. "Sturdily Thomist," "relentlessly even-handed," "somehow uncaffeinated," "what kind of being could have conspired to create you?"

Episcopal priest, baker, counselor, exercise nut, sci-fi afficionado. Opinions are no one's, especially mine

Or just have him start the next film alive and well and then at some point have someone be like "Bond! I thought you got blown up!" And then have him quip "you know better than to listen to rumors," or "what can I say? That was no time to die" and then absolutely refuse to explain further

On a more serious note, I wonder if intersectionality might be a helpful analogue today. Just like we say one person might have privilege on account of their class but suffer oppression as part of their race, so Jesus' experiences and actions are shaped by his divinity AND his humanity.

That is normal and appropriate! Saving the world is a big hard weird job! It's gonna require big hard weird things! But no chopping up Jesus into two to make it less weird. That's mean.

One of the great achievements of the patristic era is the importance of recognizing there is only one Jesus. There isn't a human Jesus and a divine Jesus. There is ONE Jesus, human and divine.

And because Jesus is both and we are not, he does things that look weird to us!

You know what, that's fair. But would not a pie by any other name taste as good?

Alas, I tragically did not discuss how Nicaea is also a pie if you think about it
