If the budget is passed by the July 4 deadline, an estimated 16 million acres in Calif. are at risk of being sold over the next 5 years. Those vulnerable parcels of land include areas adjacent to Yosemite, Mount Shasta, Big Sur & Tahoe.

More updates coming out of Shasta County this week after the newly appointed out-of-town top elections official Clint Curtis abruptly fired his second-in-command. The move is adding agitation in a community worn out from years of election distrust.
