And “a 5 year wait for citizenship for refugees”, apparently. It takes around 6 years for the avg person to get citizenship in Ireland due to system failure. It reminds me of a Dublin landlord who once warned me the rent would be very high, but it was actually laughably low, comparatively speaking.

If it’s a toss up between listening to the car alarms going off on the overnight ferry to Belfast or this…I’m definitely sticking with the car alarms.

Another thing to note is that undergraduates themselves may already be experiencing this. I completely get the sentiment though.

Well, (1) It puts the burden on women (2) It leads to stunted career progress if we’re talking ‘elite’ institutions (3) Who knows where the problems are - academics are mobile. The gratitude expressed to Katherine for this seems to suggest it’s mostly still buried: www.bloomberg.com/news/feature...

Apologies @schuringa.bsky.social - what I meant to say (if I had more characters) was that you set out the move towards an attempted ‘social turn’. I know you argue that this a form of colonisation, but it seems clear that there has been a substantial shift in focus at least.

I actually think it is mainly an indication of how dominant a few thinkers were in shaping 'the linguistic turn' in philosophy - the idea that everything, including ethics, can be boiled down to linguistics. We might now be experiencing a 'social turn' - @schuringa.bsky.social sets this out well.
