Comforting myself through illness with “a vivid, unsettling exploration of misogyny, obsession and the transgressive pleasures of food in Japan.” 💙 📚

Nat, I enjoyed your talk so much. Thank you! Apologies that I arrived late and clearly missed the best part 😝

I have to say York’s library is amazing. Completely open to the public. Excellent coffee & salads. Plus I seem to be able to consume the entire environmental philosophy section at my own pace since (1) I’ll never complete my time at the university (being unaffiliated) & (2) no one reads anymore 📚 💙

Beautiful evening of music at the Boyne Music Festival, within Townley Hall, which is full of philosophy books & strange art. I am now completely fascinated by this place. Previously owned by a TCD Prof, it’s now with the ‘School of Philosophy & Economic Science’, which has been described as a cult.

“The Italians who live largely on greenery are effeminate and flaccid. You Englishmen, great meat eaters, have something harsh that smacks of barbarity in your inflexible virtues…The Frenchman, flexible and changeable, consumes all foods and adapts to all characters.”

Relieved to be back in #Ireland today where the temperature is a ‘mere’ 23 degrees, compared to York’s 30 degrees (!) Every heatwave is more likely & more deadly due to #climatechange, caused by our burning of fossil fuels.
