Southern California folks, if you want to invite epic hummingbird battles into your yard, plant a Mexican sage. We have a handful of wee birds chasing each other and cussing each other out all day over this plant.

Every year I plant parsley hoping the swallowtail butterflies will find it, and as of this morning we have three caterpillars! It’s so fun watching them eat and grow. Fingers crossed they make it to chrysalis stage without our backyard alligator lizards finding them.

Outcome was… ugh, but not unexpected given our third keeper was in a field uni, but never not a good day to root for the Wave.
