My husband is a hero for sitting with me at women’s basketball games while I jump up and yell “AND ONE” and “REBOUND.”

And big congrats to University of Buffalo for getting to the WNIT Fab Four! #UBHornsUp

This headline doesn’t work in Western New York, but it’s time the country gets to know Mike MacDonald and Daemen:

“College basketball’s last remaining undefeated men’s team is one you’ve never heard of. Can it win it all?”

Division II Daemen University is the most underrated team in college basketball. Can it bring unlucky Buffalo a championship at last?

For what it’s worth I am really impressed with Texas women’s basketball right now.

“Look. If I have to explain to you why it’s messed up to allow gambling on the Special Olympics, you’re probably on the wrong part of the internet.”

So interesting how the framing changes. Any thoughts on the why of the shift?
Some interesting sports media framing happening around Week 18 in the NFL and players extending streaks and earning performance bonuses.

Not too long ago, these would have been decried as stunts and selfish, players just seeking money.

Now, they're evidence of good team culture.

Caitlin Clark not getting selected to Team USA Basketball’s roster for the Paris Olympics sparked debate.

Though disappointed, she said her celebrity alone should not have merited an invite, according to an interview with Time Magazine.

Tom Brady complaining about roughing the passer calls is literally the funniest thing in TV.

Insightful. Witty. Tragic. And more going on beneath the surface than appears. This book was a fantastic read not just about Dorothy Parker but about women, writing, and how we view women who write.

I’m about to lecture on Watergate and I feel, for the first time, that I have to explain to students why it was such a scandal.

“No, people thought the president wasn’t a king. Even Republicans! Honest!”

I tattle all the time.
Word of the day is a favourite, from old Scots.

To ‘tartle’ is to hesitate while introducing someone because you have completely forgotten their name.

Absolutely love this story. And the journalism prof in me loves the use of data with a variety of interviews to provide stats, facts, and, most importantly, context.

I love Hallmark Christmas movies. Nothing “guilty” in my pleasure. Overly simplistic? Yes. Can be problematic? Can’t we all. But for 2 hours I can relax knowing it will have a happy ending and we all need to grab those moments of peace where we can these days.
