We can't simultaneously decry that students can't seem to do anything for themselves and then make a bunch of digital tools that do things for students. Either we're helping them develop their practices (skills, knowledge, attitudes, habits of mind) of a field, or we're not.

Norovirus, sinus, and a kidney infection later... I'm back.

En route to Holyhead after a whistle-stop tour of Liverpool and Manchester with 87 students. Let's hope less than 70 students vomit on today's rough sailing 😖🙏

Yes, libraries are invaluable for their collections and public services they offer, but also social contact without the expectation to interact with anyone or spend any money is so important to so many people

A fabulous student stayed back after class today to point out all the references to Greek mythology they'd noted in Macbeth. Other than stating the obvious, that Shakespeare was influenced by Greek myths, I didn't know where to direct them to further reading... any ideas? #edchatie

Is #booksky a thing? If not, can it be? 📚

Today's lunchtime protest doesn't seem to have made any headlines... selective coverage as we head towards elections? Teacher and student voices need to be listened to, before Senior Cycle reform is rushed, at the cost of our students' success #edchatie

A bunch of #literacy focused #EdChatIE folk have started appearing on BlueSky.

A Starter Pack for this interesting intersection:

I've surely missed some new joiners - and will hopefully welcome many more very soon!

Being a teacher means deciding between watching the election debate, I'm a Celeb, or succumbing to an early night because you've dealt with 15283637 problems already today 😵

I would politely suggest that officialdom in Irish Education (particularly the support services!) migrate their material and updates from X to here. It is so unfair that teachers are forced to engage with that platform in an effort to be informed. #edchatie

We've had a great response to our survey so far but would appreciate help to spread the word to teachers in the UK. Please feel free share with interested colleagues ➡️ bit.ly/3CcD3Fu Many thanks for the reposts.💐
