What a week. Wrapping up projects ending in July; Seeing my eldest complete primary school; Celebrating the graduation of three of my doctoral students; and examining a successful PhD.

Calling care partners/companions of people living with dementia. We have 7 spaces left on our study evaluating a mobile text messaging service offering psychological support during the month of June. Contact martha.pusey@port.ac.uk for further info.

You will receive text message support during June and then have an interview to discuss your views. This will involve receiving check-ins 1 to 3 times a week (depending on your preferences). The service is being delivered by a Chartered Psychologist using techniques from Acceptance & Commitment Therapy. We can support the cost of care to help you take part in the interview if required. I can’t rate this book highly enough. I can’t recall ever reading a writing style like it before. Gifted to me because I’ve enjoyed reading all of @richardosman1.bsky.social books. It’s a very cleverly written murder mystery; superb read.
Picture displays an orange book cover of a book called “Everyone in my family has killed someone” by Benjamin Stevenson. It says it’s a Sunday Times crime book of the year, and carries a quote from Jane Harper saying “utterly original, hugely entertaining- a must-read”. A person called A.J.Finn is also quoted as saying “Knives Out meets Richard Osman”. It carries the Penguin Books publisher logo in the top right corner, and the letter “i” in the word “killed” from the book title is replaced by a silhouetted knife, which is being held in the foot of a silhouetted pigeon perched on the letter “k”. A silhouette of a gun is at the bottom of the page. The words of the title are linked together by lines making it look a little like a depiction of a family tree. The book is resting on a green blanket and you can see a thumb tip from the hand holding the book.

Day 17- Nourishment: currently full swing Xmas baking, trying to continue family tradition.
Day 18- inspiration: my dearly departed Grandma, for said baking (see day 17), but also for her values & manner.
Day 19-analysis approach: oozing integrity, fit-for-purpose
Array of Czech Christmas cookies (varieties are: vanilla crescents; bear paws; Brabant - lemony icing and almond; oat cakes; Linz - like jammy dodgers; coconut sandwiches dipped in chocolate; and some meringues that didn’t work as I’ve yet to master vegan eggs) on a small plate, with a recipe book behind called “Grandma’s Christmas Recipes: made with love and for sharing”. The recipe book has a photo of Grandma on the front, smiling and drinking a cup of tea, and young family gathered around a Christmas tree.

Really enjoying reading this book at the mo (The people on platform 5 by @clarepooley.bsky.social). I’m about a 5th of the way in. Very cleverly written from different perspectives. It’s making me think of the analogy in the pic below. #relax #goodreads

One person is saying “This is a circle!”, but the text has been amended to clarify that they should say “I see a circle!”. Likewise the other person’s speech (“This is a rectangle”) has been edited to say: “I see a rectangle!”. Under the image the text reads: “Rectangle or circle? Reality is often more complex!”. I was still wearing a homemade birthday medal gifted to me by my kids when I took off my coat today in class, which led to a v. kind student organising these delightful flowers for me! I’m
surrounded by lovely people. Also was greeted by a b’day banner made of loo roll this morning! #feelingthankful
