*books of poems 🙄

I love rhythmic books and kids those ages do too so made sure to include fun books to read. Chicka Chicka Boom Boom is another classic.

Cool…I have so many. The booms of poems by Shirley Hughes is classic and absolutely marvelous. And all the Story Orchestra books. Kids love pressing the buttons.

Hey #medievalsky manuscript friends!

Found in our archives. One is a Psalter from 1425 (maybe?).

The other? No idea. Can anyone help identify what this Latin fragment from the late 1300s (supposedly) is? This is definitely not my wheelhouse.

Any further info on either is welcome.

It’s the kind of day where I needed whatever this lemon lavender brioche thing is and I’m alternating between iced and hot coffee 😂

Oh, and that brand new book by Greg Lee on the City of God you see there? Yeah, it’s PHENOMENAL. Gonna chat with him this afternoon for a new episode of OnScript!

What Jesus said.

Women are made in the image of God. Therefore, women have full agency and deserve protection from violence of any kind, regardless of what they wear or do or say or who they're in a relationship with.

I have a lot of grading to do, a conference paper to write, and a book to work on so of course I made cinnamon rhubarb muffins.

I was obsessing about this cute gull fam on the roof and saw it live! Habemus papam!!!

Sure, let's go all in on AI doing all the things. Because obviously this is the kind of "ruler" Paul meant.

🤪 🤣

Look this crumb, y’all 🤩

And it’s the most delicious sandwich bread so far. Shout out to Sally’s Baking for this perfect recipe.

I used old fashioned oats for this loaf.

Behold! I hath made multigrain bread.! 🍞

Steam in the oven made sure it didn’t rip on the side and I’m crying because it’s so pretty.

The tears might also be because every day is a new horror and also because it’s the end of the semester.

Complex tears.

But also LOOK AT MY BREAD.

It’s that time in the semester where my desk collects mugs and my floor collects piles.

From the official White House account. There's no bottom to this administration's disdain for the law and for human rights.

Dehumanizing an already vulnerable person and then mocking someone visiting that prisoner during Holy Week is...a choice.

To be clear - it's a vile and anti-Christ choice.

Almost missed posting for #WomensHistoryMonth!

I wrote (with Lynn Cohick) Christian Women in the Patristic World.

The thesis: women contributed substantially to the development of theology and practice in early Christianity.

If you don’t have a mini jar of this perfect coconut peanut butter to bring to work or wherever….

15/10 recommend

*yes, I’m reading one of my fave early Christian texts, the Life of Macrina, and it’s even better paired with a banana and this peanut butter.

Happy St Patrick’s Day! ☘️

It’s a good day to celebrate a guy who called out abusive and tyrannical leaders, worked to abolish slavery and the slave trade (having been enslaved himself), advocated for the poor, and rid an entire island of snakes (it’s a legend but let’s go with it).

From St Patrick’s Letter to the Soldiers of Coroticus.

Patrick offers no quarter for greedy Christians who are “blood-stained” with the innocent (the enslaved Irish). Unjust riches turn to vomit and the angel of death will drag away the greedy to be “crushed by the anger of dragons.”

BEHOLD! I have made my first-ever sandwich bread. It’s honey wheat and it’s delicious!

Some community chalkboard art for this Feast of Saints Perpetua and Felicitas!

The dragon had been on the chalkboard for weeks.

Added by one of my students: Perpetua (“girl boss”) climbing the ladder crushing the head of the dragon with her hair pinned up, of course, because she’s “a noble lady.”

FB just showed me this ad.

As a resident of Mass, part of me is like: NO KINGS, NO FASCISTS! AMERICA! TEA IN THE HARBOR!

And the other part is like: Does this mean Canada wants to adopt us?! 🥺

Happy Spring Break to meeeeee!

Spending it with my early Christian besties Gregory of Nyssa and Macrina ❤️

TO undo the thongs of the yoke,
TO let the oppressed go free,
and TO break every yoke?

As a white Christian, I could stay comfy-ish in fasting "from." But it's been TIME for the specific action of the fast "to."
