I know I'm never on here...sorry about that.

Who on here is going to Bible and religion nerd prom (aka SBLAAR)? It's in my backyard in Boston this year so I'll be there! Would love to say hi if you will be too.

This is the worse case of déjà vu ever.

Complete with all the talking heads going "You know, I think this is actually going to make America safer!"

For pete's sake, READ A HISTORY BOOK or watch a documentary whatever just...can we not do this AGAIN?!

Y'all, @caromein.bsky.social came through and was able to provide a transcription for these. This work + Gemini gave me a good idea of what these texts are! Further confirmation and study needed but:

A late 14th-century scholastic commentary
A early 15th-century Gradual or Antiphonary for Pentecost
Hey #medievalsky manuscript friends!

Found in our archives. One is a Psalter from 1425 (maybe?).

The other? No idea. Can anyone help identify what this Latin fragment from the late 1300s (supposedly) is? This is definitely not my wheelhouse.

Any further info on either is welcome.

These T Swift lyrics have been in my head since Jan 20:

The whole school is rolling fake dice.
You play stupid games, you win stupid prizes
...
American stories burning before me
I'm feeling helpless, the damsels are depressed
Boys will be boys then, where are the wise men?
Darling, I'm scared.

Humans made in the image of God are being starved and slaughtered in Gaza. Grief and rage at this atrocity does not diminish the horror of October 7th. One atrocity does not condone another.

There is no justification for killing civilians, let alone children and the wounded. Absolutely none.

What theologians here find themselves doing historical #theology work in the 1500ish-now space?

Obviously that's a large span of time and everyone has a focus (mine is early Christianity) but I'd love to meet some new friends who work in that space.

Introduce yourselves! What do you work on?

Just wrapped up listening to a fabulous plenary from an Argentinian scholar on Origen’s Commentary on John at #NAPS2025.

International faculty and students in the US are blessings. They honor us with their presence and their work. Treating them with violence is abhorrent.

Hey #NAPS2025! Can’t wait to see y’all.

I’m presenting on Gregory of Nyssa in the first paper of the first session (the equivalent of winning the lottery at a conference, I think).

Bonus: I’m coming from Boston’s North Shore and skipping an impending rare May nor’easter to hang out with y’all 😁

Hey all, the FDA has a comment section open for the next three days! Tell them what you think of their ridiculous and harmful decision to not approve the Covid-19 vaccine yearly for the majority of people.

The vaccine is safe, effective, and should be widely available.

Our government wants us uneducated, scared to speak out, and also, apparently, sick.

This timeline continues to be the absolute WORST.

New Trump vaccine policy limits access to COVID shots
Federal health officials will no longer routinely approve annual COVID-19 shots for younger adults and children who are healthy.

Hey Late Antiquity and early Christianity peeps!

Who's going to NAPS this week? I've not been in a bit and can't wait to catch up with y'all and meet new friends.

It’s the kind of day where I needed whatever this lemon lavender brioche thing is and I’m alternating between iced and hot coffee 😂

Oh, and that brand new book by Greg Lee on the City of God you see there? Yeah, it’s PHENOMENAL. Gonna chat with him this afternoon for a new episode of OnScript!

What Jesus said.

Women are made in the image of God. Therefore, women have full agency and deserve protection from violence of any kind, regardless of what they wear or do or say or who they're in a relationship with.

I have a lot of grading to do, a conference paper to write, and a book to work on so of course I made cinnamon rhubarb muffins.

Sure, let's go all in on AI doing all the things. Because obviously this is the kind of "ruler" Paul meant.

Super niche ask on numismatics:

We have a Helena Augusta coin in our archives that's been identified as a medieval forgery. I know what I'm looking at with coins struck in late antiquity but I'm interested in the why and how of a forgery.

Numismatics peeps: I'd love to get your thoughts on it!

Love me a good story with great characters, especially ones that inspire us to directly challenge exploitative power and oppression.

May the Fourth be with you, fellow rebel scum.
a woman is standing in front of a building and saying `` may the force be with you . ''

Look this crumb, y’all 🤩

And it’s the most delicious sandwich bread so far. Shout out to Sally’s Baking for this perfect recipe.

I used old fashioned oats for this loaf.
