Some of my student’s portraits for the practical aspect of this task. Their goal to represent people of impact or importance in their lives experimenting with Namatjira’s distinct style. They each made a series of 5 portraits. Quite a challenge for Yr 7’s #teachingart

Mr Abbott by Vincent Namatjira. Currently assessing my Year 7 student’s work & one of my students chose this one saying as part of their analysis “his face looks like a mask, hiding the horrors that lie beyond.”

She had stacks of these cookbooks and they are easy to find in #OpShops so I am on a mission to collect the ones I remember from her collection & cook up some fond memories.

Often find myself feeling sentimental, so I have launched myself into rediscovering recipes my mum use to make and bake when I was growing up. Some of these came from #AustralianWomensWeekly cookbooks. Just popped this one in the oven.

Accidentally bought this guy inside with some dried fern. He was returned to our shade house and spotted again a few days later.

Another cold windy day + my day off, so more sections started today. My Yr 9’s will be looking at doing this as an option for their final practical task to explore techniques they have investigated this semester. Concepts to include the human form #collage #art #artteaching

Another section of the concertina sketchbook done. Using the sun stamp to link the collages together to get some flow happening. Pausing every so often b/c of the interesting articles in the #nationalgeographic mags. I have some from the 60’s. Great #opshop finds

Stormy weather keeping me indoors today so I’m raiding my stash of textured papers, painting experiments and old #nationalgeographic mags to do some #collage in a nifty little concertina sketchbook #art #artteacher

Purchased my first bottle of ink to use with my fountain pen…..a lovely blue/black which creates a nice range of tones. One dip & managed to draw all these lines….✔️ Ready to start drawing ✒️

A selection of my Year 6 Bird Paintings inspired by their encounters with birds (they had so many stories to share). We looked at the work of Katie Nalgood, to learn from her how she paints the birds she notices where she lives in Western Australia.
