Amurder Mark

Discussing the Golden Age of Detective Fiction, unicycling, juggling, backgammon, sudoku, and crowd photos I'm in, but mostly the first topic. Cozy, old-fashioned amurder. Lots and lots of amurder.

I honor those who built a city on rock 'n' roll — Whodathunk it would be a feasible construction material? — and the woodworking geniuses who made a little birdhouse in my soul.

Bloodletting sounds like one of RFK Jr.'s health policies.

My side project is reading the Harry Potter books in Norwegian. (Yeah, let's avoid "elefanten i rommet.") I'm on No. 4.

I have never read them in English, so my wife, who has, is hearing all about Harry and his best friends, Ronny Wiltersen and Hermine Grang, and their schooling at Galtvort.

One of the stars of this movie, Marsha Hunt, died in 2022, at the age of 104. A life of taking no false steps.

¹ Libby app roulette pretty much only works for Christie, for its selection of Golden Age Detective Fiction is incredibly poor (of course, the app is linked to my library card and other digital libraries may vary). The Hoopla app, though — that's where the books are! It was a wide selection of GADF.

OK, the break is over and I'm back to reading murder mysteries. Libby app roulette¹ (tag all the #AgathaChristie books and read what is "available now") has given me "Death in the Clouds."

I'm about two-thirds of the way through, and I'm still unsure where it's headed. It's suspenseful. No Chekovian guns were introduced in the first act, but great heights were, so maybe it's more Hitchcockian.
