I am not meant to be a leader, am just meant to be a problem solver - and that takes away all the worry about appearing to be in a certain mould
and this freedom to be you when you meet people is precious
it's less common than people think, almost everyone in middle age in tech can discern this

The most beneficial part of me deciding not to pursue a product management vertical career ladder, instead trying for IC dev roles is:
I have to worry less about impressing people
I know I will be hired using my coding assignment or live coding interview, not by how I talk or how charming I am

also just checked the repo for merge velocity & it's being shipped really fast
