Juggling Neuroscientist living my juggling neuroscience life. With lots of good books and poetry along the way.
Look ok is a lot of poetry bad? Yes. But now there’s so much to love out there now, from vibrant and lush to aching and haunting. Especially in contemporary poetry as so many more voices make it to publication now than before (aka not just white men).
Question 6:
Do you like poetry or are you normal and think the vast majority of poems suck donkey balls but like 10-20 are deeply profound and beautiful?

Over the weekend ICE abducted an NIH contractor when he showed up to a courthouse for his green card hearing. He is documented. His wife is a citizen.

He is also member of the skeleton crew of animal care staff that works through a shutdown, to ensure the health and wellbeing of research animals.

Truly awful. The intramural program supports so much exploratory work that happens basically nowhere else including my PhD. It’s a jewel that attracts scientists from all over the world to attempt their dream experiments. Please call your congress person about this if you can.
More hits to #NIH:

"The Trump administration has imposed a new restriction on employment that could push out thousands of NIH’s senior scientists: The agency cannot retain scientists in 1-year to 4-year positions that have long been routinely renewed." 🧪

NIH ban on renewing senior scientists adds to assaults on its in-house research

This is devastating. The NIH plays an important role in coordinating trials across the country.

Do you have a loved one in a clinical trial? It might be stopped due to these cuts. Call your representatives! Let them know you care about science and developing life saving treatments!
Got word that several NIH employees in a group working on cancer clinical trials got terminated via email this evening.

“The [cancer research] trials will literally not be able to function without us.”

Trump and Musk are killing cancer research. 🧪

This move will decimate not just budgets but all research. This means more children dying of preventable diseases and more people looking for hope having it pulled away. If you can please raise this with your congress person. This action is basically being pro-disease.
All NIH study sections canceled indefinitely. This will halt science and devastate research budgets in universities.
