November 17, 2025 at 7:25 PM
war of the worlds ass shit
November 16, 2025 at 10:50 PM
Anyways time to hook it up with these obviously too big cables
November 16, 2025 at 10:48 PM
ok the service manual has let me know the right side is VCC (5v), as FB314 and 313 are connected to the VCC
November 16, 2025 at 10:37 PM
for the sake of refrence, here's a microscope shot. my assumption is the very far left/right pins are the power/gnd, but im not sure what orientation is 1-4
November 16, 2025 at 10:24 PM
yeah my main goal was to connect a blue retro ESP32 to the PS2, but every guide is for a slim, not fat

so im basically trying to translate this guide to a PS2 fat. They used the USB as a power source
November 16, 2025 at 10:16 PM
So I’m looking for a 5V pin to power a blue retro and I’m not sure which one is which here

What’s the best way to test
November 16, 2025 at 10:05 PM
Ps2 fat layout cause people make it confusing, just repeat on other side
November 15, 2025 at 10:33 AM
Just a few caps
November 15, 2025 at 2:50 AM
not sure if that notch is intentional or not, tbh. I can make two variants to test.
November 15, 2025 at 2:23 AM
Also: this is a good laser, a KHS-400C
November 15, 2025 at 1:34 AM
But yeah, the chipped tooth is probably why it’s scraping
November 15, 2025 at 1:26 AM
Question of the day: is this tooth supposed to be chipped? If no: that’s the issue
November 15, 2025 at 12:54 AM
Basically two metal rods to lift/lower the actual laser with the white piece while everything else operates the tray
November 15, 2025 at 12:51 AM
Didn’t realize this was all mechanical in this dept, neat
November 15, 2025 at 12:47 AM
Disc: drived
November 15, 2025 at 12:45 AM
Minor 3D print fix: ps2 controller connector exposed
November 14, 2025 at 11:52 PM
Bit loose on the left
November 14, 2025 at 11:42 PM
Silly ps2 screws
November 14, 2025 at 11:38 PM
the top assembly also looks virtually identitcal to my PS2, so it could just be the same disc drive.
November 14, 2025 at 11:31 PM
The white piece isn’t going out far enough, causing it to hitch going in, leading to motor scraping. This piece might need to get looked at somehow, maybe some lithium grease to make it flow. Who knows till I figure out how this part works
November 14, 2025 at 11:14 PM
It’s something to do with this white piece right here. It’s keeping the disc drive jammed. Top swap loader helping me troubleshoot lol
November 14, 2025 at 11:09 PM
It seems a lil messed up. If I just put discs in it it’s fine, but if I jiggle the drive tray a lil it does this
