Bear spray had to be deployed by hikers in two recent encounters with bears in Kananaskis Country, leading Alberta Parks to issue new warnings. There are now eight active bear advisories throughout K-Country as grizzly and black bears continue to be seen.

A wolf that is possibly habituated to humans continues to be seen in Kananaskis, prompting concern from Alberta Parks. Conservation officers are trying to keep track of the wolf and are using aversive conditioning in an effort to keep it away from people.

A lone grey wolf encountered by multiple people in Kananaskis has possibly become acclimated to humans, according to Alberta Parks. Wolves are seldom seen in the Bow Valley, especially up close, making these encounters rare and potentially problematic.

A foal that found itself stuck in the Kananaskis River would have been in big trouble, had paddlers Anna Gleig and Ava Haddad not pulled it out of the water, put a life-jacket on it and helped the baby horse reunite with its mother.
