Colorado sent an email to all SNAP recipients yesterday urging them to use food pantries. CDHS was informed last week that pantries can't do more without more funds to buy more food. Food pantries are uniting to tell @coloradogovernor.bsky.social Polis to release emergency funds to food pantries.

Start your morning with two minutes of the testimony of Samuel Garcia, an average American who drove 3 hours to speak truth to power to the Texas legislature. Let’s decide that we are all Samuel Garcia. Get in their faces and make them listen. Mr. Garcia is a great American.

Heads Up indeed gives me hope. Thank you, @froomkin.bsky.social.
I write my weekly Heads Up News newsletter to give people a little hope in an otherwise excruciating news climate. It focuses on significant acts of resistance. Please give it a look and consider a paid subscription. www.headsupnews.org

A joint piece by former Congresswoman @marienewman.bsky.social and me on a sensitive question too many seem too afraid to ask.

Americans are pissed. Do we need a new movement, a new party, or both?

Wrote up something about Techdirt's recent coverage, and why (whether we like it or not) we need to be a "democracy blog" now, rather than just a "tech" blog (not that we've ever been just a tech blog).

This story is *the* story and it impacts everything else.

What if we built a new major news and opinion journalism outlet from scratch and used it as a news lab to reform and rethink how we do things, starting first with billionaire-proofing it.

And what if we honestly audited our flaws and came together to make the news orgs we want to see?

@petebuttigieg.bsky.social Serious question: Why not become the Dems' spokesperson in a daily press briefing as a counter to the B.S., part of a "people's Cabinet" - per Timothy Snyder's recommendation of forming a "shadow government-type" entity to counter the madness of the GOP?

@indivisible.org Sen. Bennet office visit today. Met with staffers Max and Chase for a nearly 30-minute conversation. Said everything we wanted to say and more. Demanded a No vote on Vought, 30 hrs of debate, all delay, no business as usual. Thank you, Bennet staff, for your time and solidarity.

Heading to Sen. Bennet's office today with many others to demand a complete shutdown of Senate business and a block of Vought's nomination. Obstruct and delay at every turn.
