This is my Margo who left my side in September after 20 years. 💔
I thought it would be hard to see other cats on the internet for a while and thought about muting all my cat account follows, but I’m so glad I didn’t, even if it’s hard sometimes it’s better seeing you all than not. 💚

Such fun when all of your failsafes, uh, fail. 🔐

Installed a deadbolt with a keypad years ago so I wouldn’t get locked out of my house. Keypad malfunctioned today. Keychain with backup keys left inside. Spare key in my car… not in my car. Spares at my mom’s house and sister’s were not correct. 😩

I found my wild grapes! Now I don’t know what to do with them.
They smell very grapey.

Yo, I appreciate the effort, fellow #CTSun fans. Taking advantage of the captive audience in the Mohegan Sun Arena toilets to recruit support.

VICTORY! I have consumed some street food in Manila, getting mango and avocado sorbetes from a pushcart in Intramuros.

h/t to @sstan99.bsky.social for putting me into the "dirty ice cream" path 😂

BREAKING NEWS: Folks at protests are mostly being cool but a few dorks are not

Thanks, CNN!
(But seriously, at last they are saying it's been mostly peaceful and the tension is the news)

Another nature mystery/identification request!

Found this small, broken egg under a tree in Groton, CT, Friday evening.

About 1” X 1/2”. Lots of brown speckles on a cream background.

#BirdSky, what bird could this have been?

#ScienceSky, is this a slime mold?
What is going on with these roots and limbs of recently cut down shrubs near my house?

Yes, I am eating a bowl of said oatmeal right now. I believe it is multiple servings worth. Also a few walnuts and dried blueberries up in there.

Costco didn’t have a bunch of the stuff I intended to stock up on, but I still ended up with decent supplies of some things.

And, of course, I couldn’t leave without getting the classic Costco hotdog deal.

Last night’s mystery backyard guest #2:
Zipped by the edge of my southeastern CT yard around 3:30 am.

(Could be the same critter, backtracking to where it came from in the first video?)

Oh wow it does look like a dried mango seed! Which would normally be a very weird thing to find in the woods behind my house, but….. I did leave out some mangos for the wildlife a couple months ago and it’s possible a critter transported it a quarter mile into the woods!

New nature ID question:
What is this alien pod?

Off-white, fibrous pod type thing, found in the woods in eastern Connecticut on 4/2.
A little over 3 inches long and about 2 inches wide. Ovate and flat-ish.

Who needs to see a fat rat clumsily falling from a bird feeder in the middle of the night?

I bet you do!

(I think the rat suffered only embarrassment and was not actually injured.)

Internet, what is this animal?
Seen in southeastern Connecticut by night vision camera an early morning in mid-March.

(I am pretty sure I know but want to get confirmation.)
