Hello world! About me:

I'm currently a meteorology grad student at OU studying severe wx, mainly tornadoes using RaXPol! Id love to start getting more involved with the wx research community on here. If you're interested in the work we've been doing, check out posters 53 and 64 at SLS next Tuesday!

This Sunday, we collected a close range dataset of multiple tornadoes near Arnett, OK in RaXPol. Despite scrambling to find a position, we captured the debris cloud, a debris ejection associated with intense RFD, and surface-layer vorticity worms in the inflow and RFD.

A possible failure mode for tomorrow and Saturday's #NMwx setup is subsidence. A few models are showing a mid level inversion at around h500. The presence of this type of inversion is a red flag for subsidence, especially if co-located with positive model omegas (sinking motion, blue bars on right).

Gotta fill the TL! Mountain waves downstream of the Sierra Nevada near Carson Pass, CA - 10/11/24.

These appear to be trapped given their appearance of being vertically stacked instead of tilted upstream with height. They may occur with strong, unidirectional wind shear and high static stability.
