Perhaps it’s corny to say but I’ve never cared about corniness:
I wish this were a kinder world with kinder people. Instead of the rest of us having to be aware that there is, in truth, so much of the opposite everywhere.
That doesn’t defeat me. It just makes me angrier & sadder for what is lost.
