Intended or not, the lyrics — when really understood — point out that the “isms” (racism, classism) are *social constructs*.
This might be “the way it is,” but it doesn’t *have to be* this way. We choose, individually and collectively, whether to perpetuate the constructs.

I was there (NYC), and I think 100K is an underestimate. It felt larger than June 14th, which is important. Of course, I think there should be far more. More outrage, more resistance, for sure! But it was important to have a peaceful event. Joy and diversity are vital antidotes to fascism.

Why has “banana republic” become the favorite new phrase? I don’t think it’s an accurate description. Is it because people are afraid to say “authoritarian regime” or “dictatorship”?
