Every now and then, I'll stop and just look around, appreciating the serenity and peacefulness. The view consists of mountains draped in low fog and forests in the distance, a slaughterhouse and embroidery factory. Just before harvest time, the fields resemble a sea of green carpet.

The aging population of remaining workers and the youth avoiding transition into agriculture has created a vacuum of manpower that's currently being filled by migrant workers. Sometimes I'll see them when they're packing up to leave since they do their work in the dark of night just before dawn.

Mornings I go for a walk on a stretch of road that runs thru rice fields next to the village where I live. At the moment they're preparing for another sowing period so I get a look at some of their process. Those bright green patches that look like grass are rice seedlings workers will soon plant.
