So damaging the relationship with your primary backer of military aid - perhaps permanently - in a vain attempt at 'humiliation' was actually part of the plan? Looks like it worked then, but I don't think that'll benefit Ukraine in defeating Russia. Which is presumably the ultimate goal here.
