My conference paper "Imaginary Friend or Foe? Examining the Pitfalls of an AI Writing Partner" is finally published in the CEA Critic! In it, I tackle some of the problematic assumptions about AI and discuss why LLMs may be counterproductive for writing pedagogy. muse.jhu.edu/pub/1/articl...

Me too. I have a student who draws one on every in-class assignment. I think this is a star doing a forward flip. ❤️

Canvas is down, and I am sympathetic to panicking students everywhere today, but I've had to send several e-mails in the last hour reminding my students that their physical textbook still works just fine.

Thanks for showing up, Fort Myers! This was such a beautiful display of community and the best turnout I’ve seen so far. I caught a moment of slow traffic here, but most of the time, there was a lot of solidarity honking. #nokings

A new cafe just opened in FTM, & at first, I was impressed. It’s hands down the prettiest cafe in town and expensively furnished. Then I noticed the TV screens promoting evangelical missions to South America, and I found this on their website.

One of my favorite things about advising FGCU’s English Honor Society is that I get to empower students and work with them on events like this panel we’re hosting next month. Our goal is to provide a space for students to voice their concerns and critiques about AI in higher ed. #sigmataudelta

Teaching Zadie Smith's short story "Meet the President" (which takes place in a techno-dystopia) hits different in the age of AI. I highly recommend it for those wanting to tackle conversations about the role of technology in our world in their literature classes.

I feel compelled to share this elderly weirdo with the world sometimes. I mean, look at these lines — high art. #WhiteyAppreciationWednesday #catsky

I needed a monster for my one of my online Composition course's mini-games, so I used the yeti from SkiFree. My students probably think I'm just a really bad artist. They will never know the FEAR from trying to outrun this guy only to be inevitably eaten whole.

I never get tired of marveling over this guy. Such fluff! Such ham! And so very old! What a gift.

My homie let me play with his professional camera, and I am literally so proud of my two minute-long career as a Photographer.
