You won't find an emptier suit outside of a department store. Hard to think of a major world leader this devoid of conviction and courage. Never really seen anything like it. It's like they discovered a new political quality called antileadership or something.
2025: Keir Starmer suggests that pressure on housing and public services is because of migrants

2020: Keir Starmer, "Poor housing, poor public services are not the fault of the migrants, they're political failure"

The Straight Story is on Film4. I think the 'grabber' scene is one of Lynch's funniest. How deflated the guy is to be selling one of his two grabbers and he's turning from one grabber to the other makes me laugh so much. Then a perfect punchline at the end. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tK4...

what an awful ending for Traitors. The no reveal banishments for the finale just completely ruined it. From one of the best endings to one of the worst

watching a documentary about the making of Lost Highway. There's a great bit on Bill Pullman sax solo. Lynch says "this sax solo is the real important thing. It's just gotta be insane." It cuts to Pullman going absolutely wild on the sax, then cuts to Pullman saying "Sax guys...sex guys...sex gods."

There's a few films I've been meaning to see that I haven't had the chance to yet that I'll try and watch before I go back to work next week, but these are my top 10 films of 2024:

My dad's been criticising It's a Wonderful Life because Jimmy Stewart is "too tall"

Watching Miracle on 34th Street. I love how everyone's always having a go at the judge, even his own family. He's like "I'm only following the law," and everyone's like "fuck the law, we love Santa"

Just seen who's presenting Top of the Pops Christmas 2002

Watching The Lion in Winter starring Peter O'Toole and Katharine Hepburn for the first time. In many ways, this is the first Eastenders Christmas episode

Watching the Red Shoes on BBC4 for the first time in years. What a beautiful film
