Remember that brief clip of David Lynch cooking quinoa? [Chris Farley skit voice:] that was awesome

Do you ever just stare a word out of countenance while you're writing, like, 'that can't be how's it's spelled.' I just did that with "poignant".

@danagould.bsky.social Thank you for your performance last night at Atlanta Punchline. Big fan, good times! I was the guy front and center.

“Do you have a favorite horror movie?”

“Uhh, An American Werewolf in London?”

“I like ‘Pretty Woman’ You thought I said ‘horror’” 😆

hey for anyone who might want to actually own their kindle books instead of renting them, or who might be thinking of switching to kobo etc and will want to convert them to epubs, you now only have one week before amazon kills your ability to download its ebooks www.theverge.com/news/612898/...
Amazon’s killing a feature that let you download and backup Kindle books
It’s bad if you like to keep ebook backup copies.

One of my hobbies over the last like fifteen years is to keep updating the syntax of my 'John Barth' google alert to try to keep an Indianapolis politician out of the results

I'm about a 50/50 man when it comes to either yanking out stray threads from a shirt or sweater I'm wearing vs burning it off with a cigarette lighter

I just got hold of ‘The Graphic Canon, Vol. 3: From Heart of Darkness to Hemingway to Infinite Jest’ and didn’t realize you did the IG illustrations. Well done! I had seen the Gately one many years ago, but not the others

Every time I use a cotton swab I always think of the 1970s Q-Tip commercial with Sid Caesar where he says at the end [roughly] "And remember! Never put anything in your ear, except of course your elbow."

I'm a little ashamed at how many books I bought in 2024 and how few I read. I try to console myself with "Ayyy!, I'm a collector! It's aspirational and fun!" etc, but it's clearly become another addiction/distraction to reel in this year. *sigh*

I just bought another first edition of John Barth's LETTERS mainly for the dust jacket, because I lost the jacket for mine which he signed for me in 2001 (the book, not the jacket). Yeah. I'm that guy.

Simultaneously delighted and a little bummed at how inexpensive it was

My granite countertop at the bar section facing back into the kitchen frequently becomes this weird Rorschach collage when look away from the book or laptop and go into a brief reverie. It's freaky-deaky

A light clanging outside my window (what *is* that? I still don't know) has been mesmerizing me all day. Now I just realized it's this saudade-y recollection of walking or bicycling to school a bit early before class in grades 3-5 to get in a round of tetherball. The snaphook hitting the pole...
