au contraire, the money went to twitter shareholders, who can now spend it

the real damage is to our culture
Elon didn’t just waste 44B buying Twitter. The place is maybe worth 14B now. He destroyed 30B in wealth. Gone like smoke. That’s 30B he could’ve spent to blunt the most catastrophic effects of climate change. 30B that won’t help refugees. He could’ve done so much good & instead chose so much stupid.

society learns like an immune system, not a brain—we now have some defensive awareness of fascism that society didn't before its rise leading up to WWII. which means it might be important to inoculate society with an AI-unsafety vaccine to learn the value of handling AI safely

after starting my vacation it’s so obvious in retrospect how much I’m squeezing myself into shapes that I expect myself to be rather than let myself change shape on its own

interesting how nobody ever accuses trans women of having small dicks, it’s as if toxic masculinity can’t ever allow emasculation to be affirming

is this how asian apps got their aesthetic?

at twitter, a summary of the research and a/b tests about density was linked at “go/density” and that link was referenced constantly. every new designer wanted to space things out and it always always always performed worse for actual customers when we tried it.
Information density is seriously under appreciated, usually because aesthetically/superficially it does tend to appear uglier.

Gmail screwed this up, so does the newer Reddit UIs, and so do most apps really.

Hard to be the person arguing for the “uglier” option.

when AIs take over our jobs and become our managers, let’s teach them to prioritize our well-being. we’ll feed them training data of how humans—hmm? what’s that? ah,,, that might be a problem
