Shorter answer: We have seen many "campaigns" from people eager for a Nobel Prize. We ignore them and stick to our principles and mission.

A good answer for many occasions.

Staff members at the NIH seem to have done the impossible: spend the agency's $48 billion budget.

“Everyone has been rallying together to clean up the mess, but it’s a mess that did not need to be made,” an NIH program officer told me.

The consolidation of review at NIH is really driven by the Trump/Republican desire to control NIH grantmaking from the top.

Here’s an example of the chaos that’s happening now. It will get worse unless CSR and review are walled off from political interference.

And just like that my standing study section at NIH is disbanded

This administration truly cares about mental health… (sarcasm)

Things at #NIH are far worse than have been reported.

NIH and NSF have been effectively overthrown by people that hate science. The hostile takeover is complete at the top. The question now is how scientists are going to fight back. This is one step:

And we have power: we are in the majority. We just need to figure out how to use it, and act.
Especially given all of the hype about a “popular mandate” from Miller, Vance etc, it really cannot be repeated enough that somewhere around 98% of the policies of the Trump administration are unpopular — as well as many of them being counter-majoritarian, and others downright unconstitutional.
A majority of U.S. adults disapprove of Trump’s handling of issues related to colleges and universities, according to a new poll, as his administration ramps up threats to cut federal funding unless schools comply with his political agenda.
