Psyched to start knitting my first Musselburgh hat! (after reading so many reviews) 🧶

The rose from a cutting from my friend that we planted in September has bloomed! It doesn’t look like any rose I’ve ever seen though! 🌹🌱

1 month update, the luffa that flowered too early is looking ok now (on the right) but it’s overshadowed by its more vivacious sibling (behind). So far 1 fruit developing each from those 2 plants.

The flowers bloom for about 12 hours, so it isn’t often a male and a female bloom at the same time! 🌱

Tulip and Clover brand crochet hooks are my favourites. During a recent trip to Japan I realised I’ve been paying way too much for them all this while.

Clover ¥650 -> $16.90 NZD
Tulip Etimo ¥900 -> $19.50 NZD

Is NZ an anomaly? 🧶

One of the cool things I saw in Japan that I didn’t buy.

A blue Japanese dinosaur ceramic plate casually sitting next to a pile of under plates under a table in an Osaka market (hence the odd angle) 🦕

Made my first pompom and added it to the crochet ribbed winter hat I made earlier. It’s a bit small but cute. Probably needs a trim too. 🧶

Went looking for mechanical keyboards in Japan. ⌨️ they have a huge collection compared to where I live. Only problem is most of them were Japaneses language keyboards. Not many secondhand ones either. #MechanicalKeyboards

Baby Blanket finally done! It’s 65cm x 65cm. I crocheted a 5 stitch ribbing for the edge instead of the one recommended by the pattern. 🧶

Making a baby blanket for our neighbours 1 month old. Using this pattern: https://daisyfarmcrafts.com/crochet-wildflower-blanket/

Really like the texture, but it’s taking a lot longer than expected! 🧶

I learnt this weekend that it’s really easy to crack a ‘cheap’ combination bike lock by following the instructions on the internet.

Pictured is T’s bike lock that I managed to open on the 1st try using one set of instructions. He’d lost the combination for few years ago.

Buy better locks people!

Growing luffa has been a bit of a struggle this spring. Seedlings got eaten by slugs/snails, then most of the seeds we bought failed to germinate. Currently have 3 seedlings left.

We were shocked when little guy decided to flower. Is this too early? It has only 1-2 leaves. 🌱 #NZGardening

I’ve finished sewing my first proper project! A pair of jogger pants made from a combination of two patterns. I used end of bolt fabric from spotlight - a rayon material. 🧵🪡📍

Been busy this year doing other things but here these are my most recent projects! 🧶

An abandoned pathway on our walk today. The footpath has been closed indefinitely probably due to the floods last January.

Cherry blossoms giving off Japan vibes in Auckland (from last week). 🌸

Looking forward to actually going to Japan soon, though it will be in winter!

Waiting eagerly for this year’s batch of strawberries. 🍓🌱

First time trying to grow holy basil from seeds harvested from store bought plants. We are a USDA hardiness zone 10b but the original plant did not survive through winter.

Hopeful that this will work! 🌱

Had the privilege to be part of the Summer of Tech Meet and Greet in Auckland a couple of evenings ago!

Crazy, but my invitation got bumped up from the 6pm entrance to the 5pm one just a few hours before the event!
