I think #Duolingo should partner with sustainable toilet paper. I'm sure a good percentage of learners on the app get their lessons in while on the pooper.

Transition lenses don't get dark enough for me. The point of wearing sunglasses, for me, is to avoid eye contact with strangers when I'm out. I got these in December and didn't really get a chance to try them — so I can't go back to Lens Crafters, provide honest feedback & grovel for a new pair

Went out last night. Up way past my bedtime. Feeling oddly okay, probably thanks to drinking a soda, and not whatever I would have consumed in the pre-pandemic times over the course of four hours. Better for my wallet and my sleep (and my head).

I have several hours before heading to bed, but hem-hawing already about whether I need to set an alarm for work Monday morning. I'm still not confident that I've fully sprung forward.

Based on my work history (hired, full- & part-time, contract, temporary, freelance) & my general feelings when applying for roles, I had an ah-ha moment a few weeks ago — that I only feel good about working for organizations that I would, should I not NEED to earn $, volunteer for in some capacity.

Good to know. I need some new shoes.
First day with the new job. Granted, it's just part-time to start, and remote, so no huge sacrifices to my current life were made. But even though I am naturally an early riser, I still worried about sleeping in and didn't sleep well because of it. That would be my luck.

My apartment from summer 97-spring 04 is over $825/mo (as of 2024). Rent started at $350; when I moved, it was about $500. The thing is, at 650sqft, w/2 large closets, a good-sized kitchen (bigger than my house's kitchen), free elec & water, covered parking & "hot" location, it's still a good price.

Training for new job starts on Friday. I won't be relieved until that is actively happening and the first direct deposit hits. Prioritizing work-life balance w/this flexible gig & my Etsy & Big Cartel shops. Downsizing my small biz, and only making and selling what I want, has made this fun again.

A reminder. If you don't have blinds or curtains, and it's dark outside, and you have your lights on, you might not be able to see out, but passersby can see in.

Woke up to an offer for the "backup" editing role I applied for in early Jan. Starting part-time, while I still have applications being reviewed for other part-time/contract & full-time positions. However, I could transition to full-time or stay part-time and keep it as a side gig. Big relief.
