With Starmer's talk of 'strangers' in his diatribe this morning (invoking Enoch Powell), it's worth remembering Sara Ahmed's amazing work on how 'strangeness' isn't about a lack of recognition, but how we actually recognise strangeness via the identities and bodies we've been told to fear.

Oh well. I applied for promotion to professor and the internal panel (scientist after scientist after scientist after medic) decided that it wasn’t even worth sending it out to review as I don’t meet the criteria. Apparently. I’m looking forward to the feedback on this one.
