Today’s professors are not the young people of 1968, they are the young people of 9/11, “weapons of mass destruction,” and Abu Ghraib. Of Katrina and Bush v. Gore. Some of us are neocons and the rest of us know what propaganda, overreaction, and war crimes look like.
the funniest thing about this argument is that it shows how terrible at basic arithmetic these people are. as of 2020 the median age of a tenure-track professor in the united states is 49, so *born* at least 2 or 3 years after 1968.
Something you learn reading a lot of reactionary centrists is how repetitive they are.

One unexpected thing in my qualitative study w natural scientists (one-hour interviews) is how deeply, deeply sad the climate scientists are. They say things like "you have enough information from us, why won't anyone act?" -- the psychological distress these people are enduring is very great.
