MA folks, today is be a great day to call the governor and ask her what the plan is to keep ALL Massachusetts residents safe in the face of kidnappings by masked men who refuse to show warrants. *Everyone* is endangered by this. Contact info here: www.mass.gov/orgs/governo...

Let me just say to Mass residents following along, your legislative leaders on the Advanced IT committee are absolutely standing up for your privacy rights and we truly do love to see it. They're taking their responsibility very seriously and sticking up for us regular people.

"Our caucus is unified," says Schumer.

Team Fight has won the CR battle in the Senate Democratic caucus.
Schumer on Senate floor: "Funding the government should be a bipartisan effort, but Republicans chose a partisan path"

"Because of that Republicans do not have the votes in the Senate to invoke cloture on the House CR. Our caucus is unified" on the month-long CR

My girlfriend, while editing and asking me about cholesterol:

you're my favorite desk reference. Well, for science questions that social scientists are likely to use/misuse as metaphors. Garner's Modern English Usage 4th ed. is also pretty foxy tbh

Today I got to tell my housemate about the Wisconsin butter flood www.madsewer.org/news-resourc...
Butter River: Cleaning up Madison's largest commercial fire
On May 3, 1991, a massive fire engulfed Central Storage & Warehouse (CSW) and created a burning river of melted butter in Madison's streets.

I used to correct typos *constanty* as a kid until my English teacher in high school graciously taught me that people generally don't like that
Speaking (for a change) not (entirely) of myself:

Calling out someone's typos publicly is very likely to be taken, by the typoer, as an act of aggressive hostility.

If you mean to be aggressively hostile, then swell.

If not, maybe just keep schtum.

one of these days I'll have a garden, but in the meantime i'll just enjoy the interesting plant things i learn
If you're planting daffodils, crocuses, and other spring-flowering bulbs and you don't get them all to the ideal depth, don't fret! Many flowering bulbs can *pull themselves* deeper with contractile roots!

it's also still interesting for people who are read up on this topic! I learned way more about the sports world and how gender testing has changed with new medical technologies but has been fundamentally the same for over 100 years
I think one thing Tested can do is help your relative/friend who isn't read in on stuff to understand it. If you're trans/nb there's probably stuff you'll feel is oversimplified (fair). The point of the show is to help normies who are most likely to be taken by the "protect women's sports" stuff.

Check out this dark fucking reality of the biotech bust. 16M square feet of vacant lab, with a demand for 1/8th of that.

You know those buildings that are just -stopped-? This is what that's about.

Fun bird fact time! Did you know that Northern mockingbirds recognize individual people? They attack researchers who have previously disturbed their nests while ignoring everyone else. They are not simply responding to familiar vs unfamiliar. 🪶🧪

I just learned about transient global amnesia where you can just randomly blank out and lose all your short term memory? And it only lasts about 24 hours and then you're back to normal and there's no discernible cause??? (My dad went to the ER yesterday. He is doing fine now)
