That’s a lentil pâté under the mushrooms. It was so insanely good it boggles the mind. And the pickled beets brightened everything up. I’m half Swedish/Norwegian and the beets were a total nostalgia bomb for me.

Copenhagen has a fantastic international food scene, lots of variety. But the best bite of food I had in my entire Europe trip was the smørrebrod served at Aamann’s Deli and Takeaway. The lentil mushroom was, surprisingly, the standout against the smoked salmon and fried whitefish.

Copenhagen has a fantastic international food scene, lots of variety. But the best bite of food I had in my entire Europe trip was the smørrebrod served at Aamann’s Deli and Takeaway. The lentil mushroom was, surprisingly, the standout against the smoked salmon and fried whitefish.
I promised to report back on the (allegedly) excellent Mexican food at Sanchez in Copenhagen. And as promised, I took my homemade carnitas maker dad (and my goofball 15 y/o brother) to try their carnitas. It was… not “good by California standards” as advertised unfortunately.

I just need to tell you that Tivoli Gardens is the greatest amusement park in the world. I like the ride where I get to drink alcoholic spritzes and lounge in comfortable chairs on the grass all afternoon. Also, they did decent SF style burritos

My normie (but very urbanist) partner did an instagram series where he asked if Danish architecture would fly in the bay. Results were mixed.

Ok so here’s a weird ass thing I witnessed. APPARENTLY, graduating high school seniors rent out massive open top busses to play loud music and scream from the entire weekend after they graduate. They get wasted and create increasingly obscene banners to hang from the busses. I hated their joy.

Visited Assistens Cemetery where Hans Christian Andersen is buried. It’s actually a beautiful walking spot and there are unique, interesting memorials everywhere you look.

The urbanism in Copenhagen is incredible. Just incredible. You don’t get anything better than this in the world. Don’t let your municipalities tell you that this isn’t possible because I’ve seen it with my own eyes.

When we first got to Copenhagen it was unseasonably fucking hot. It SAID it was only around 75f, but with the canal humidity I could have died. This pic was 4am from our fourth floor airbnb somewhere between the Vesterbro and Fredricksberg neighborhoods, highly recommend staying there.
