Alexandria vs. BIBA
@alxvsbiba.bsky.social
It's election time in Alexandria again — and the we-hate-the-city people at BIBA have their own slate of candidates: Jimmy Lewis, John Huskey and Charlotte Scherer.

ALEXANDRIANS BEWARE!
Bill Rossello can't fathom that voters found him repulsive, so he's created a fictional world where the only reason he lost is because the 50 people who attend ADC meetings secretly control the city.

Who exactly is doing the "hand picking," Bill?

The only thing the right-wingers on BIBA hate more than bike lanes is trans kids. When called out on violating their own "no politics" rule, they quickly decide that hating on trans kids is an allowable exception.

Any candidates or elected officials who embrace BIBA are supporting bigotry.

This is wild, even for BIBA. The poster confuses the FY25 budget, which did raise the tax rate, with the FY26 budget , which did not. She then complains that her taxes went up the 3 previous years but her home value didn't. That's not possible. She should confirm her assessments on the city website.

If I was one of the members trying to gut the Climate office at City Hall, I'd be very uncomfortable having right-wingers on BIBA cheering for me.

This is a new office. How long does it take other programs to get up and running? We just started this, let's not cut it before it gets going.

You know who would love to see the Council cut spending on climate change prevention? BIBA.

I hope they don't actually do this cut.

The First Amendment means "you can't subpoena evidence to defend yourself against a lawsuit" in BIBAland.
April 7, 2025 at 9:15 PM
This guy ran for Council last year, but thinks that the city performing discovery when sued is like "1940s Germany." You can't parody the BIBAers. They're always more insane than you'd expect.
April 3, 2025 at 8:59 PM
Ah, how cute, the BIBA folks think that constant references to "sister cities" are funny and clever!

Whoever Susan Susan is, she seems very mentally unwell.

The Alexandria Times is on BIBA trolling for comments because it's the place to go to find people who will oppose anything and everything happening in the city.
April 1, 2025 at 3:21 PM
But nothing could prepare the City for the greatest scandal of all: the Mayor and a Councilman going to France for a Sister City event. Even after Chapman clarified that the City didn't pay for the trip, many in the group were not satisfied.

There's plenty of threads that implicitly praise Trump, but the moment that anyone criticizes Trump, or compares him to the Cursed City Council, an army of BIBAers reacts badly.
March 31, 2025 at 5:43 PM
So much of the anger on BIBA is about the fact that its members think it's okay with *they* drive recklessly...
March 31, 2025 at 5:43 PM
In another thread about leafblowers there was a reference to the Sister City room in City Hall (that's the one on the first floor, I think, off the back lobby). Last year's Republican candidate for Council thought they were renaming City Hall, and poor Jol tried to respond reasonably.
March 31, 2025 at 5:43 PM
The Council is apparently pro-drag-racing?
March 31, 2025 at 5:43 PM
Love noisy leafblowers? BIBA has your back.
March 31, 2025 at 5:43 PM
Here's Bill Rossello calling AEDP a complete failure that doesn't know how to do its job a few weeks ago... and then bragging about responding with nonsense on AEDP's survey about the upcoming city economic forum.

The month started with Devon Runyan Wells getting mad about The Zebra posting something supportive of Ukraine... which The Zebra immediately pulled. Makes me wonder about Alexandria's "Good News" paper.

BIBA Sister Site Member: "Airplane crashes are awful... but can we please focus on how much we hate the City Council?"
February 5, 2025 at 5:03 PM
Are Alexandria Democrats cool having a member who publicly refers to trans women as “men”? Democrats would never put up with someone who was anti-gay, or racist, in such a public manner.

Did you know bike lanes displace lower income people? How? No one but Gail Gordon can say.

Also, everyone knows only rich people can afford bikes. The poor have to get by with cars.

Hey Alexandria Democrats: one of your members, best known for having to quit a Northam commission for being anti-Catholic in a really gross way, really doesn't like your party's values or many of your local elected Democrats.

Of course, she's a proud member of BIBA.

From one of the BIBA-adjacent pages: "Generational Trauma" is when I don't get my way all the time.

Imagine thinking that the job of City Council is to be a "check on City government." The job of Council is to work with the city staff to achieve the Council's policy goals. Only in the upside down world of BIBA would one think that the job of City Council is to fight against the city staff.

How dare Kirk and Sarah understand how the post office works, and the value of not splashing your address all over public documents? Clearly they DON’T EVEN GO HERE!
