You've reminded me of possibly the most useful piece of advice my father (or anyone for that matter) gave me: when someone is making an effort to say something, listen quietly to what they say, then go away and think about it afterwards.
Every day people all around me fail to do that simple thing.

The Senate bill would add $4.1 trillion to the national debt through FY 2034, $1.1 trillion more than the House. We estimate the legislation would add $5.5 trillion to the debt if made permanent and more if various provisions are removed to comply with the Byrd rule.
