So, it’s a full-circle moment that Thurs, I have the honor of doing a fireside chat with Halla Tómasdóttir, President of Iceland, to discuss 50th anni of Iceland's women’s strike, its commitment to gender equality + the need for gender parity in music/creative fields to open the fest’s conference.

God, I love Florence + the Machine. Coincidentally saw them for the first time around this time in 2008 at Iceland Airwaves. She’s one of many powerful artists I’ve seen at the fest, which has made gender-equal and gender-inclusive lineups a priority since 2018.

Listen, I get all the fest/Lolla gripes (the bags under my eyes can attest). This year was special, even if you don't care for these artists. I cried in the midst of it. I grew up loving music + never saw people like myself on covers, stories, lineups. Representation matters, more so now than ever.

And witnessing Tyler's rise and growth, through a festival lens (I saw Odd Future back in the day at SxSW, would've never predicted where he is now), has been a revelation: www.rollingstone.com/music/music-...
