Apparently we can actively vote against all Jesus stood for - feeding the poor, caring for the outsider, loving the marginalized - and scream at people that it doesnt matter because we'll all die someday. Then turn around and claim the name of Jesus in a piss poor apology video. Cool cool cool...

I posted this cartoon last year and it really touched a nerve. It triggered so many people that I feel it needs to be put out there again. Hopefully it can make us question why we are triggered by it, and encourage us to ask ourselves to consider a second perspective (even if just for a second).

I was in churches that believed in prophets who could peer into our most private lives and innermost secrets.
God sees what goes on even in your bedroom, and prophets see through the eyes of God, so they saw what you did last night.

It's been a rough few days in our house...kid tore his shoulder wrestling, my dad's cancer is growing, and then the washing machine broke.
You know what makes me feel better though? Knowing I'm out of the church that would have blamed all of this on my lack of faith or giving!

After decades of evangelicals hearing they're chosen, gifted, and saved—but only according to their untrained and self proclaimed pastors—is it any surprise they fear and hate those on the outside of their churches? Is it any surprise they view something like compassion as evil?
