Uk investor since 2012 in small/medium cap companies. Ramping and politics free zone. Random thoughts on investing. I welcome other points of few and pushback.
I occasionally pop back to have a look as I do find bsky can be quiet. It is insanely partisan now.

Same. It's been a right slog. I thought maybe once the budget was out of the way we'd get a lift. Maybe a rate cute next week might get things going. Who knows.

Famously a huge influence on Nirvana with the quiet/load thing. I think they got bored of being asked about that.
I'm not a mega fan but I do like them and I did see them when they first reformed. They were great.

This was one of those shares that seemed to attract very dedicated and vociferous followers a few years ago. I wonder how many of them sold or held until the bottom?
Maybe the nuttier ones were just pumpers? I almost hope so. No one should be that attached to a share.

I find the aim100 most closely tracks my investing universe sentiment (much more than the all share or 250). This chart says a lot. Over 4 years since all time highs and no real consistent uptrend since then. It's been a lot of churn for the last 2 years. I've made money, but it's been harder.

Especially when a charismatic or well regarded investing personality is involved. I've watched many times when a crappy share has its moment cos an influential person starts mentioning it. So many people jump on board.

I've had very good years using nothing but stockopedia (mainly ranks and screens). Any bad years I've had are either general market weakness or me trying something new/trying to be too clever. I'm not sure I'd do any better with more info, but I like to keep things simple.

I think sharescope really suits people with in depth accounting/balance sheet knowledge as it can be as in depth as you like. That comes with complexity. I tried it and just find stockopedia is a simpler and enough for me. i think the charting is better though and screenable. I would like that.

I'm very switched to weekly charts this year to slow myself down. Monthly might be a step too far me though!

I've loosened stops a bit this year for the rebound reason you mention. I doubt there's a perfect solution as things change with the market. I think going forward I want to be more mindful of a market conditions and not sell good shares on general weakness. I got shook out of a few earlier this year

A lot of people look for the perfect screen, ratio, or chart setup but no one gets a 100% win rate. I often see around 60%. Maybe one could get that with very simple criteria? Is one MA above another for example? Are we all deluding ourselves about how much insight we actually have?

I would expect to see a huge variance in results, especially over a few years.

Yeah they did. I recently read geezer butlers book and he mentions it in there.

Did you ever see Sabbath?
October 25, 2025 at 5:25 AM
I have all my tickets, pretty much the only nostalgia thing I've kept. Unfortunately no one really does paper tickets anymore. Printing out an email isn't really the same!
When I lived in brum the odeon had already closed unfortunately so I never saw anyone there. I missed a few classic venues!

There's a really famous pic of Bob Marley and the wailers walking down the side of the odeon. I met someone once whose first gig ever was the stones there. Loads of history in that venue. 👍🏻

Anyway, what happens if American democracy fails (if it hasn't already)? What happens if trump starts taking stakes in other listed companies? What happens if he fires the fed reserve governor? And what will it mean for the UK market is the US is no longer trusted? +ve or -ve?

+16% is great. Hopefully SAGA doesn't disappoint for you.

Well I've had a very good run since 2012 really. Lots of good years, 2 down years and a few (like this year so far) neither here nor there. So I'm batting ahead of the couple of good runs I should've seen.
