Uk investor since 2012 in small/medium cap companies. Ramping and politics free zone. Random thoughts on investing. I welcome other points of few and pushback.
I find the aim100 most closely tracks my investing universe sentiment (much more than the all share or 250). This chart says a lot. Over 4 years since all time highs and no real consistent uptrend since then. It's been a lot of churn for the last 2 years. I've made money, but it's been harder.

Here's a graph of my returns this year so far. A very frustrating year! Just feels like a slog and my portfolio can't quite get going.
But I'm happy with all my positions and not selling anything right now. I'm 10% cash but any new positions will need to be a clear buy.

There's a really famous pic of Bob Marley and the wailers walking down the side of the odeon. I met someone once whose first gig ever was the stones there. Loads of history in that venue. 👍🏻

Very interesting times and tricky to know what to do for the best. I am bearish for the world economy and American market for obvious reasons.
But I find the aim 100 a good proxy for uk sentiment and it has just hit and bounced off multi year support (monthly chart back to 2011).

I saw this on Reddit. I assume it's legit.

Current portfolio. If it's hard to read, clockwise from top right are: #gms #bree #iii #mpac #mtl #xps #alu #bmy #igp #pay #s&p #cash
Highest cash position I think I've ever had, but I'm older, I work less and so much more cautious nowadays.

Last weeks close above the 10wma on the Aim 100 couldn't hold so we are definitely not in an uptrend, still time to be cautious. I am 25% cash, very, very selective on new positions (trading well, good fundamentals, trending up but with an obvious and close stop position), and 1/2 usual risk.

I wasn't planning on buying anything but I couldn't resist a starter position with paypoint #pay
99 stock rank on stockopedia and just surfing that 200dma making higher lows.

These are my current holdings (plus some all world and S&P trackers & 20% cash). Some (biln, bmy, gama etc) have put in recent lows that I will now use as stop levels. #ecel is on the naughty step. If it misbehaves next week it's out.
I won't buy anything new until the market is more positive.

I like the aim 100 for UK sentiment. It's definitely not bullish right now, I'd argue still churning sideways. If the recent low around 3400 doesn't hold I'd consider that very bearish. Until it starts tending up I'm remaining very cautious with any buys.

H2 last year I started recorded eow returns because I thought it would be interesting to see my equity curve. Well, interesting but not how I hoped. Zig zagged nowhere!

Had about 10% of my portfolio in fundsmith & I've sold. It had done well in the early days but it's underperformed lately I'm going to buy an S&P tracker instead which I will trade to be out in downturns. USA is the place to be but not without risk imo. Where in the diagram is the USA right now?

The weekly AIM 100 is my go to for market trend. Went bearish in late 21 - late 23, we had a lovely run up to May 24 then mostly sideways for this year. That pretty closely matches how it's felt to me. Also notice we're at the same levels as 2016! I've definitely made money since then, thankfully.

Technical analysis?

(Caveat, I use TA a lot, I just thought this was funny and probably somewhat true.)

So £5 to £9?

I was watching system1 to see if it might pull back, and it has. Another AIM faller.
A bit small for my taste and could of course drop further, but looks quite interesting to me. #sys1.l

I find the AIM 100 a good gauge of uk small cap market sentiment. That 3550ish level seems like support. Be interesting to see if it bounces or breaks next week. If it breaks could we see it back down to 3200? Or even covid lows?

Here is a checklist stolen from an interview with @brilliantleader99.bsky.social
I may have tweaked it a little, I don't remember.
There is often some overlap in the 3 screens. I find they throw up some good candidates.

Every Sunday I do a thorough check of my portfolio and also run some screens and make some shortlists. This is one. There is no qualitative analysis here, pure screen results.
Some stuff on here I own, some is a bit illiquid, some have ugly charts and I'll pass for now.

#srad pulled back nicely into its MA trend from the pop on results on 12/8. A lot of green on the stock ranks but what puts me off is the complete lack of moat. Radiators are pretty simple and i don't think there will ever be a market dominator.

Hello Bluesky. To get started, here is my current portfolio (plus a couple of trackers and fundsmith). Some are older positions very much in profit, some are still new. Worst performer is currently #luce at -9%. Everything else is +ve.
