O Zachariah! Lo! We bring thee tidings of a son whose name is John; we have given the same name to none.

O ye who believe! Remember Allah with much remembrance. And glorify Him early and late. He it is Who blesseth you, and His angels, that He may bring you forth from darkness unto light, and He is ever Merciful to the believers.

“If thou wilt understand and feel what thou readest, thou must turn to it with humility, simplicity, and faith, and not seek the fame of a learned man. Ask rather for the grace of devotion than for understanding, for it is better to feel compunction than to know its definition.”

I do not like the Xification of Letterboxd. I am not going to deny that the comments are hilarious and fun to read but I shouldn't be scrolling for half an hour to read an actual movie critic.

In his treatise “Dear Beloved Son”, Imam Ghazali says: My son, know that the [religious] knowledge which does not spare you from your sins and does not increase you in worship of God will not be able to save you from the Hellfire.

Seeing so many Turks flocking here en masse, I feel like a Roman Kipchak mercenary stationed in Eastern Anatolia in 1071 AD.

I really do feel at peace and in health at most when I do prostrate in prayers. I respectfully have to disagree with Imam Abu Hanifah, may God have mercy on his soul, who said the standing is the most blessed part of the prayer.

#TIL that the Crimeans once devastated Prussia on behalf of their ally Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth during the Second Northern War so severely that it went down in German history as "Tatarensturm" (Tatar Storm). It has a nice ring to it though, would be a cool handle.

The thing I will never ever forget about Lars and the Real Girl was that my castrated brain waited whole movie for some riff-raffs to mock Lars into agony but nobody in the town actually did. Surely goodness begins with the absence of evil in one's soul. Five stars for that.

Tez çıkarırlar fevkâ'l-ûlâya şol Îsâ gibi dünyâ koyanı
Tez indirirler tahte's-serâya bin Kârûn gibi dünyâ seveni

Quickly will be raised up to the highest he who, like Jesus, abandons the world
Quickly will be buried in the lowest he who, like a thousand Korah, desires the world

Yesterday I was blessed to spend Laylat al-Qadr at the mosque of Saint Hacı Bayram, may God sanctify his secret, one of the four poles of Anatolian Sufi tradition. By Allah, the people were so beautiful I didn't want to leave until sunrise.

Allah and His Messenger loves, especially in the month of Ramadan, and on Friday, those who spend from what his Lord had bestowed upon them from health and wealth for the sake of Him. He says: “Who is it that would loan Allah a goodly loan so He may multiply it for him many times over?”

'Tis the day our master Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib, the Lion of God, has passed away from this world as a martyr and met with his Lord upon the best of state. May the Almighty grant him the highest of positions and make us students of his way, worthy of him.

Whether you die in dirt or on a throne?"

An Irish Blessing on St. Patrick's Day

May those who love us, love us;
And for those who don't love us,
May God turn their hearts;
And if He doesn't turn their hearts,
May He turn their ankles,
So we will know them by their limping.

Wonderful. It reminded me of the Prophet John's rebuke of the Jews in Matthew 3: “For I tell you that God can raise up from these stones sons of Abraham.”
Ge'ez has two words እብን ʔəbn: "son" (borrowed from Arabic ابن ibn) and "stone" (cognate with Hebrew אבן ʔéḇen and Akkadian abnum).

the "son" word in the sentence above is ወልድ wäld, cognate with Arabic ولد walad and Hebrew ילד yéleḏ.

ኅብስት ḫəbəst "bread" comes from the same root as Arabic خبز ḫubz.

1446 is probably the worst Ramadan for my salvation. I never felt drifted this much apart from God and what is even worse is that I'm witnessing it with a clear understanding as it happens. It's like I watch my own downfall on live television with family and friends present.
