You could argue because he doesn't want to die, and perhaps it was a mental breakdown, but why would his breakdown come out as that? It sort of feels like Wooly's motivations randomly switched between games which I'm sure was not the intention.

To me, the best route the team could have gotten would have been to make him act more like a guardian figure who forcefully tries to steer Amanda into complacency while also KNOWING & FEARING the harm she can do to him, like someone trying to “tame” a wild animal.
