even as a bit. drawing them in too cutesy a style (like cookie runs) felt inherently wrong to me. they need their noses and wrinkles (cheated a way to include murdoc’s by having his “nose” be a crack in his dough). it’s like whenever the metal slug cast gets drawn too conventionally attractive

One of my favorite parts of Gorillaz lore (yes, they *do* have their own lore) is that for their album, The Now Now, they ended up temporarily replacing Murdoc Niccals (he was incarcerated) with...Ace. Of the Gangreen Gang. From Powerpuff Girls.

Having some mixed feelings about this phase of The Gorillaz being their "discovering ourselves in India" arc, but I can't deny I love the vintage photograph mixed-media approach. The iconography is exquisite.
