In other words, violence has been dropping citywide despite low staffing. And where violence has occurred, it has been in "hot spots" with high staffing.

Despite a surge in 2022 and 2023, violent crime rates returned to 2018 levels in 2024.

SPOG isn't happy about this. They negotiated a 23% raise based on the idea that the only thing that would bring the crime rates down was 400 more cops. Wrong.
