It's infuriating. I love Kubrick's movies, but once I read The Shining, I didn't want to watch the movie again. I was raised on horror films, and I was a kid when I saw the movie for the first time. It makes me sad what he did with King's masterpiece.

I feel like no one is talking about the fact that ALL the tax credits are important now because everything is so expensive and healthcare companies were allowed to raise rates exponentially this year. Like, we are still in a pandemic economy—in fact, it’s worse.

Sure would be cool if we had an affordable and accessible healthcare system that supported any of that.

Guess what, idgaf if they were sincere votes or not—when the time came to cast them, they had a choice regardless of what “the caucus” decided. They shoulda told the caucus to go f themselves.
Assume all the yes and no votes from Dem senators are strategic and not sincere votes. The party caucus made a decision. No way to know how many were in favor. Then the caucus decided who would vote yes and no based on what would protect each of them politically the most. That’s how this works.

If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

seems to me that those democrats inclined not to fight perceive themselves as living through a somewhat ordinary cycle of presidential overreach and backlash and not something much more significant and dangerous

I worked harder on this book than any before it. My ex-publisher then failed to pay me what they owed me for it & did their best to ruin its chances of survival. That robbed me of a year of my life & ruined my health.
