The southern shift in the snow for Tuesday night we saw this evening in the models was incredible. We look to start winter with a bang, even down here in the metro! #mnwx

Good news, it's in the 50s on November 23rd! Bad news? This is likely the last time it will be this warm for the next 4 months...

They out (Carver)! #mnwx

Sweet Jesus that's a lot of rain. 12z HREF with nearly 5" of rain for us through Wednesday morning 😲☔ #mnwx

This 500 mb chart at 7pm this is what's been giving me pause about this being a significant event. Note the positively tilted trough from eastern SD to northwest MN. This positive tilt means the best upper forcing will lag behind the best severe environment. (2/probably 4 now!)

Since I'm kind of anonymous here, I'll give my true feelings on today's severe risk in MN. With respect to being a Moderate Risk, today will be a bust. I'm not saying we won't get any severe weather, I just don't see there being much significant severe, especially wrt to tornadoes. (1/3)

Southeast Missouri and southern Illinois would like CCR to know that yes indeed they have seen the rain. They would probably like it if you could make it stop as well...

That's always fun when you can see a tornadic circulation within the mesocyclone's circulation... #txwx

So Twin Cities, what path would you choose? "You'll get nothing and like it" (Euro) or snow bonanza (GFS). You have about 36 hours to make your choice! 😉 #mnwx

Must be Spring Break season in MN...

I think this sums up the snowfall forecast for the Twin Cities today... #mnwx

No matter what else may be going on, at least the EPS is showing that we will be trying to Make Winter Great Again over the next couple of weeks... #mnwx

Question of the day is will the donut hole fill in before the precip moves out??? At the very least, this looks like the first of several snow chances over the next week! #mnwx

Sometimes fire department training has its perks. It was a good distraction from the shit storm I suddenly find myself in with my full time job.

🤔 maybe... maybe??? After watching New Orleans and Pensacola blow by us for seasonal snowfall, I've reached the "looking at CPC extended outlooks for getting my snowfall forecast kicks" portion of winter... #mnwx

Good news, a CME appears to be hitting Earth. Bad news, there's not a whiff of clear skies anywhere near MN... #mnwx

I know there's still a ways to go, but looking at the EPS and GEFS, our chances for a White Christmas south of a Duluth to Fargo line in MN are starting to look quite slim. Winter's not done, but after this week, we're probably looking at the first or second week of Jan before arctic air returns.

This just means I overuse Duolingo 🤣

Though I may be running a marathon in the most magical place on earth (Disney World), I'm pretty sure I won't be able to make such a magical stache down there 😉
November 30, 2024 at 3:41 PM
I'm sure running in these conditions will prepare me well for what we will experience at the Disney Marathon...

Biggest takeaway from the 12z EPS is that it has really taken a swing at or first arctic plunge of the cool season happening Thanksgiving weekend. That's what we get for scheduling Thanksgiving so late this year... 😉 #mnwx

Welp, I've been pleased enough with this butterfly thing that my X account has been officially deactivated. Also, next week's toilet bowl system looks plenty warm enough to give us some Guns 'n Roses weather...a cold November Rain. Follow me for additional bad weather puns! 😉

4 cities (Carver, Chaska, Chanhassen, and Shakopee), 2 counties (Carver and Scott), and 20 miles later, I'm definitely a bit slower than I used to be, but my legs don't feel nearly as bad as I feared they would! 57 days till the Disney marathon!
November 15, 2024 at 7:12 PM
So Midwesterners, you all ready for the weather to go full toilet bowl mode next week? 🚽
