This 500 mb chart at 7pm this is what's been giving me pause about this being a significant event. Note the positively tilted trough from eastern SD to northwest MN. This positive tilt means the best upper forcing will lag behind the best severe environment. (2/probably 4 now!)

Since I'm kind of anonymous here, I'll give my true feelings on today's severe risk in MN. With respect to being a Moderate Risk, today will be a bust. I'm not saying we won't get any severe weather, I just don't see there being much significant severe, especially wrt to tornadoes. (1/3)

I know there's still a ways to go, but looking at the EPS and GEFS, our chances for a White Christmas south of a Duluth to Fargo line in MN are starting to look quite slim. Winter's not done, but after this week, we're probably looking at the first or second week of Jan before arctic air returns.

Biggest takeaway from the 12z EPS is that it has really taken a swing at or first arctic plunge of the cool season happening Thanksgiving weekend. That's what we get for scheduling Thanksgiving so late this year... 😉 #mnwx

Welp, I've been pleased enough with this butterfly thing that my X account has been officially deactivated. Also, next week's toilet bowl system looks plenty warm enough to give us some Guns 'n Roses weather...a cold November Rain. Follow me for additional bad weather puns! 😉
