More spinning to keep me knitting through the winter…
November 15, 2025 at 5:32 AM
Sometimes you just have to find one thing that makes you smile…today, this is that one thing.. I’m in love with this yarn spun from Hello Yarn Raven’s Wing fiber from my August subscription shipment. I loved the deep moody colors as I was spinning it and today the finished yarn makes me happy.

Another supported spindle! A productive fidget!

Spun up this Raven’s wing Bluefaced Leicester wool top from Hello Yarn over the weekend on my Schacht flat iron wheel. It’s so soft and squishy! Might be my favorite spin yet!

2 oz of Falkland wool spun up…I’ll finish the other half and create a 2 ply. Will probably be fingering or sport when all is said and done. #helloyarn #besotted #eew6.1 #spinningwool #fiberjoy

Attempting to learn how to spin wool on a Russian spindle. I think I’m starting to catch on but there is a lot more to learn.

Fall is my favorite season…I love waking up and enjoying a latte under a cozy blanket with my pups. Rest and relajado are importante especially in these days of democracy under fire. Watching @laurakampf.bsky.social live as she talks about being a creative. Is this a path I want to traverse?

Finished 9 blocks for the Laundry Basket Quilts 2025 Mystery Quilt-along in Dahlia.

Refurbishing this beautiful Singer 27 treadle sewing machine built in 1899. This is a reminder of the women who came before me who contributed to the world around them. A reminder of the women who were not allowed to leave their abusive spouses, have bank accounts, or vote. #NeverGoingBack

Been getting some knitting in so I have some new fall sweaters.. have 3 more sweaters that are nearly complete. 😁 given the level of inflation this is really helping me out. Thank goodness for the stash! 🧶

Pumpkin Spice season is upon us so what better than a pumpkin spice quilt? In today’s world I’m looking for any bit of joy I can find. I hope these blocks bring you joy! #joansews pattern #pumpkinspice

#tourdefleece2025 Day #3 my only commitment is five minutes a day to reduce stress. Love this little spindle for on the go spinning.

I have no words because I still feel all the lies Bush told us before he started the war in Iraq. Therefore I give an unrelated picture with hopes that you will seek out truth and take breaks for self care. Even in darkness we can find light…we just have to look harder.

My first time starching fabric before a project. This was for the Dizzy class by Kelly Ashton at KCRQF last week.

Did a mini quilt-a-long a couple weeks ago. I’m starting to get an itch to spin again but for now quilting helps me miss my grandmother a little less. I can’t imagine what she’d think of the world today. She was lucky to graduate college as a librarian when most women didn’t get the opportunity.

The world has been too much and I’ve needed time to refresh so I can return strong. Quilting has cleared my head and given me space to support those around me. Needing time doesn’t mean we’ve given up or stopped speaking it means we are preparing for the next battle.

Tonight I cut 3 quilt blocks…ready to be sewn tomorrow. Taking a class to learn something new helps me sit my brain down for a little while and in this day and age I need to appreciate those moments. Tomorrow it’s back to the fight against fascism.

Trump’s post is complete and utter BS! Kansans I know who live in western Kansas attended this meeting. None of them happy about the state of this country! Trump and his cronies are simply lying!

It’s important to know your limit so you can rest and get back out to do more. I try to find ways to stop my brain from ruminating on what’s happening in the world so I can walk away refreshed and ready to go. Learning new skills occupies brain cells. Today it was cutting fabric for a quilt.

This world is full of hate & CPAC seems to be the breeding ground for fascism. WTH carrying a chainsaw? And all those salutes? It’s taking a toll but I’m not giving up. This afternoon I took a brief respite to try some quilt blocks & practice 1/4” seams. #quilting #BernetteYaYaHanB79 #StayStrong

No one elected Elon Musk! This is a tech billionaire perpetrating a coup. Call your elected officials and tell them to fire Elon Musk.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they shut down this agency anyway. They care about keeping women barefoot and pregnant but not one bit about any child after it’s born. #IWillNotBeSilent #LGBTQIARightsAreHumanRights #EndRacism #FightFascism

Loss is such a difficult feeling to grapple with… my grandmother was an amazing quilter. While sewing makes me feel closer to her, I miss her and wish she were here to teach me. #BernetteB79 #grief #LoveIsLove #LearningNewSkills #FindingJoyInAWorldGoneMad

America is finding itself on the wrong side of history supporting hate and racism. Despicable action by the criminal and his shadow president.
