Not to sound prejudice, but if a white guy shows up to town having received a mysterious note from his dead wife, I'm just going to assume that the first thing he's going to do is start breaking windows and looting everything in sight

People using the word "pretentious" as an insult isn't my least favorite thing in the world. But the driving sentiment behind it is

Whenever I own up to a bias and say I have reasons for believing what I do beyond that bias, all people see from that point forward is the bias. Really makes owning up never worth it.

I know nobody wants to do this anymore, but new Returnal and Control replacing their protagonists with non-descript guys (and Lara Croft looking AI generated) sucks.

Indika is about 4 hours long. You could be playing Indika right now instead. (I am playing Indika right now and it's great)

The amount of hours I put into FFXIV this year can properly be viewed as my depression score this year. Let me tell you, it is big.

It's interesting that Luke 2 is the Bible verse read every year. In my mind that chapter is the foundation of Christianity as iconography over any moral framework. It also directly establishes it as a political entity

Love how the solution to "way too many tv shows are the same" was to create a plagiarism machine

Ys 8 or Tokyo Xanadu now. I love them both. At the time I probably would have said Stardew
Quote this with what you would have said your game of the year was at the end of 2016, and what you would say your favourite game of 2016 is now, if it differs

Can't help but think that my life wouldn't be slightly better if my body picked up the hint that I don't want to grow hair on my back.

Forget Pasolini. What video games need, in order to grow as an artistic medium, is it's own Kenneth Anger. And nobody wants that.

Old Skies is one of the best games of the year, and easily the most under-appreciated.

Are there any used games stores worth anything anymore? I feel like they all use basic internet resources to set their prices to the maximum they can get. There are no more deals to be found, so the inconvenience isn't worth the visit

2000xResist featuring Makoto from Street Fighter III.

I think there's a certain type of person who only likes things that will never reach a level of visibility to ever be criticized. Which is fine. It's nice enjoying things when you're not being told they're bad. But too often they then carry contempt for anything that a large amount of people enjoy.

Nintendo does a good job covering their bases on different genres. Metroid should be their horror game. It should not be their military shooter

The frustrating thing about E33 is that it's treated like the best rpg in decades, and it is very good, but I think it's fair to say that half the games Falcom has put out in the last decade are as good or better than it

I really think that the ceiling for a pumpkin pie is 6/10, unless it is really good, then it's absolutely 10/10

Christmas, Valentines Day, and Halloween have more or less been decoupled from their eponymous sources by the majority of people who celebrate them. It's weird to me that "Day of Generally Being Thankful for Stuff" would be intrinsically tied to it's shitty history. Anyway, pie good.
